TITLE OF THE PROJECT: The use of neutron diffraction and small angle scattering in geosciences (strong deformed gneisses and granites) and biology (hybrid bio-nanoentities)
THEME: 04-4-1121-2015/2020
YEAR: 2019
LABORATORY IN JINR: Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics (FLNP)
PARTNERS IN ROMANIA: Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest (FFUB)
RESPONSIBLE PERSONS: Lect. dr. Marcela Elisabeta Barbinta-Patrascu (FFUB), Tatiana I. Ivankina (FLNP)
OBJECTIVES:
- the implementation and development of innovative strategies of applications of neutron small angle scattering and neutron diffraction to investigate the bio-based and the inorganic materials.
ESTIMATED RESULTS:
The main results expected from this investigation are:
  • preparation of multifunctional bio-based materials, by “green” methods, and their spectral and morphological characterization
  • evaluation of biological performances of the obtained hybrid bio-nanoentities (haemolytic activity, antioxidant capacity, antimicrobial activity, evaluation of the cytotoxic effects in normal and cancer cell lines)
  • selection and analysis by modern physical methods, of some specimens of gneisses from the Romanian Mountains and two specimens of volcanic rocks.
